Tuesday Night Lecture Series: “Multispecies Kinship…”

June 7, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Dr. Brianna Burke
Multispecies Kinship: Building Reparative Relationships in the Anthropocene
“The environmental crisis – whether it is called the Anthropocene or climate change or the sixth mass planetary extinction – demands that we tell different stories about what it means to be human. One of the ways we can address the planetary crisis is by building reciprocal relationships with place and all beings who inhabit it by making kin that transcends species boundaries. Kinship involves care, giving attention to, and investing in the well-being of other than human beings; it offers an opportunity to heal ourselves and our world in small, local, intimate relationships that encourage mutual thriving.
Because when the abundant life of this planet thrives, humans do, too.”
